![]() I haven't seen detailed measurements of the Fiio E10K so it's hard to say what could cause this. It could be a slight high frequency roll off the makes the sound less harsh, or maybe something to do with different output impedance that interact differently with the headphones, and could cause a slight bass boost. It could be that you got used to some suboptimal aspect of the Fiio and when listening to a device that is closer to transparent, that thing is suddenly missing. Measurements and specs (and prices…) are one thing, and the subjective experience is another thing. "Sound better to my ears" doesn't equal outperforming. It shouldn't be too hard to sell them on reddit or somewhere else. I think I will buy the 58x too and sell my 6xx. But now I think the second model might suit my taste a little better. But after just 15 minutes of tests the sound difference is way too obvious for me (and I do not take these things lightly - I can spend 1 and a half months trying to decide between two headphones, for example).Įnding with an off-topic, I think that my headphone choice was also wrong. I was sure that the DX3 would do everything the Fiio E10k did, and even better. I did not expect such a difference to occur at all. I'm still very much confused while I write this post. Should I try another Fiio product, like the A5 or Q1? What should I buy then? Schiit products are too expensive in my region - the atom is doable at around €150, but I'm scared of buying things out of amazon because I'd not be able to return them. But even if I set the DX3 to low gain, it is super super obvious to me that the sound is just different. So what should I do now? This is my first amp, and from my research I understood that amps could not sound different - they would only differ in how much power they'd give to the headphones. Furthermore, the soundstage seems much better with the Fiio E10k, while with the DX3, when I increase the volume, the soundstage doesn't expand much, it is as if just the treble is increasing, which gets incredibly annoying to my ears again, headache-causing kind of annoying. With it, my 6xx sound way more full and present with the DX3, even if I set the volume at max (to headache-causing levels) the sound is super super flat and anemic. It is super-super obvious to me that the Fiio E10k sounds better to my ears. ![]() ![]() I don't think I did anything wrong, really.īut I tried them both for a bit and. But in the totally opposite way that I was expecting! I predicted that the comparison would've blown my mind.Īnd that it did. I don't regret canceling the K5 Pro because I feel like I need the Atom or liquid spark with a Topping. When I bought my DX3 Pro, I decided to not return my Fiio E10k to amazon immediately, so that I could compare the two against each other. Now I have to end my AMP DAC journey and finally get rid of this Asus Xonar DG sound card that has been bothering me for many many years constantly asking myself what if I had audiophile external DAC and AMP like everybody else what would it sound like? what does music perfection sound like? I am so excited having already own the HD 58x my headphone journey is over as these 58x are pretty much the limit of human hearing unless we talking Planar. Is it true the D10 is better than the D30? what of the issues with the D10 failing and going dead? Zeos said the Atom volume knob feels cheap and ****** tho and he recommended the liquid spark because of its metal body The results Amir got from that Atom review revealed that the Atom is perfection. But its just that absolute perfection regarding the Atoms thats itching me. I am now looking into the D30 and Liquid Spark Amp combo. This AMP DAC K5 Pro in all honesty looks fantastic from the research I have done To me this is more than Enough to no longer worry myself, I mean the scientific measurements may not be great but if audiophiles on top research websites cannot tell the difference based on their human ears, then why should I be worrying about the scientific results that a machine can measure, right? I know you said the Amp in this is put more in the middle of amps Amir tested but people who reviewed this based on their ears they put the K5 Pro more towards the High End Amps of the audiophile world So I guess I am good to go, its unlikely I am going to hear any noise or any issues with this considering guys with $3000 headphones couldn't detect any issues when when comparing to far more expensive DAC/AMPS Well I read some more reviews and senior audiophiles on porta.fi etc said the K5 Pro matches $3000 headphones nicely, the reviews mostly claimed that the K5 Pro is a near perfect DAC/AMP that sounds closer to a $400 DAC AMP
